Dr Jessica Barker

In 2023, King Charles III appointed Dr Jessica Barker as a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (M.B.E.), for services to cyber security. An individual is appointed an MBE for an outstanding achievement, or service to the community that has had a long-term, significant impact.

Receiving the Medal

On 7 February 2024, HRH The Prince of Wales, on behalf of His Majesty The King, presented Jessica with her M.B.E. medal at Windsor Castle.

Windsor Castle dates from 1070, when William the Conqueror began building. It remains a Royal residence and is the largest occupied castle in the world.

M.B.E. Investiture

During the M.B.E. investiture, Prince William asked Jessica questions about cyber security.

The ceremony was held in the Garter Throne room, which served as Queen Victoria's principal Throne Room.

"Thank you"

Prince William thanked Jessica for her work in cyber security, which she has described as one of the proudest moments of her life.

The M.B.E.

The Order of the British Empire (including the M.B.E.) was established in 1917 by King George V, originally to honor those who had served in a non-combative role in World War One.

A Moment to Celebrate

Jessica was joined for the investiture at Windsor Castle by her husband and parents. That evening, friends joined them for dinner.

It was an unforgettable day of celebration.
